History of Pop Rock: a rhythmic and accessible music
It is often said that music soothes the soul, precisely because it is a source of entertainment, calm and even escape. To make a festive event a success, music is therefore essential. In every culture, human genius has created diverse musical genres, and one of the most striking worldwide is pop rock.
Pop rock, as its name suggests, is a genre of music that combines pop, with its simple lyrics, and rock, with its traditionally guitar-centered style.
Origins
Pop was born from a popular counter-culture movement with which most young people identified in the early 1960s in San Francisco. The movement soon took root in London. The search for an identity of their own led Western youth to change the canons of beauty and of art as a whole. Pop music then became the voice of the hippies. It draws its essence mainly from rock and roll and folk music. Thus was born power pop, or pop rock.
Pop owes its rise mainly to a music industry that was becoming more and more commercial. Having merged with the hippie movement, it gave rise to codes of its own. Thus, objects such as big motorbikes, jackets, faded pants and jeans and sunglasses became identifying elements of pop fans. Pop-rock bands then began to form in the neighborhoods of big cities.
Hollywood cinema also found in pop culture a subject of interest. Through their productions, filmmakers managed to popularize this culture among older audiences.
Evolution
Pop rock, created in the 1960s, has evolved over time. In its early days, it was popularized by artists and bands such as Santana, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Byrds, and others.
